Sleep!
Finally! Tyler woke only once last night to eat (which is normal for him and I don’t mind - it is an early morning feeding so it is technically “sleeping through the night”) and went immediately back to sleep. It is amazing how much a couple of 5 hour blocks of sleep will do for you, even after 5 weeks of basically no sleep. We’re crossing our fingers that tonight goes equally as smoothly. Probably the one thing I wish I did more of before embarking on the adventure of parenthood is sleep. I really, really love to sleep. Not that I am a lazy person by any standards, but I love a good night’s sleep. So, my advice to all of my friends who don’t yet have kids but are planning on having them is to take every single opportunity you have to sleep in before that kid arrives, particularly when you are actually pregnant. Here’s exactly what you should do every single weekend from now until your first little person makes his/her entrance… sleep in until say, 10:00, get up, drink lot’s of coffee and read the entire newspaper, front to back, while snuggling on the couch with a blanket, then go back to sleep until mid afternoon. I am dead serious. Once the kids start coming, you will wish you did this. With that said, I have the excited anticipation of a 5 year old waking up on Christmas morning every single morning as I wait for my little man to wake up so I can see his smiling face, regardless of what time it is. It is the best.
